June 7th

I hope that everyone is having a great summer. Sorry that this post did not make it up sooner. I will try to be more consistent as the summer progresses. For those who didn’t make it to CFW it was a great time and we are all excited about the plans that were made for the upcoming semester. I look forward to seeing how God will work through us in the coming school year. Here are some prayer requests to keep in mind.

Pray for Brian as he makes the transition to Wisconsin. The next few weeks are busy and will be a stressful time.

Pray for the plans that have been made for next year. Pray that God would be at work and would be guiding in future plans.

Pray for the incoming freshman. Pray that they would seek out a Christian community at Purdue.

Pray for the graduated seniors as they continue to look for jobs and adjust to life after college.

Pray that everyone would continue to spend time daily in prayer and reading the Bible.

May/Summer Prayer

I was thinking about a prayer calendar for May/Summer and I wanted to get everyone involved. I thought it would be good if could pray for each other as we go to jobs, internships etc. So what I would like is for each of you to let me know your summer plans and any specific ways we can be praying for you. Feel free to email me (jmschwab@purdue.edu) or let me know in person on Friday. Thanks for your help and see you Friday.

Other Prayer During The Week

In edition to the weekly prayer meetings I am planning on praying for the day's events Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Anyone who would like to join can meet me at 10:30 each day. Tuesday and Wednesday I will be at the engineering fountain and Thursday I will be in the Stewart lobby (by Loeb).

Tomorrow pray for the proxy stations. (They are from 11-3. If you have any time that you can help try to be there. A lot of the staff are in meetings tomorrow so your help is needed.)

Pray for the IV members and staff who will be speaking with students.

Pray that God would be at work through all the conversations that are taking place.

Pray for the evening topic "Science and Christianity Cannot Co-exist" (7:30 Stewart 206)

Pray for the panel of professors who will be speaking.

Prayer For Conversation Cafes

If anyone is interested in joining me I will be in the BCC at 6:30pm to pray for tonight's conversation cafes. If you can't make it take time on your own to pray for the events and the students who are coming. You can also be praying for the staff as they arrive on campus.

Prayer Guides

I hope the fast is going well for everyone. I put together a prayer guide for the prayer walk tonight. I will have copies available if you are coming, but it should be on the website soon if you are not able to come. In addition, Brian sent me an excellent guide on spending an hour in prayer. If you want to make use of that it should be on the website as well. Don't forget the prayer walk at 5 tonight in Stewart and to join us in Cary SW 401 at 6 tomorrow to break the fast.

Fasting This Weekend

If you have read the weekly email then you should know that we are planning a fast for this weekend. It is in preparation for our big outreach week next week. The fast will start Friday night after Cadre and we will break the fast together with a meal on Sunday night. As part of the fast there will be a prayer walk on Saturday at 5pm. We will meet in the lobby of Stewart, by the mural. The plan is break up into into groups of two or three and walk around campus praying for the outreach. It sounds like it will be cold so dress accordingly. I am working on a prayer sheet for the time. I will make sure that it is posted so that if you cannot make it on Saturday you can still join in prayer. If you have any questions about the fast or next week feel free to contact me.

Prayer Info Week of 3/13

Prayer Meeting Info:

Acts 4: Peter and John arrested and taken before the Sanhedrin; the believers response to these events

Upset over the recent healing, the Sadducees arrest Peter and John. After a night in jail, Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, delivers a powerful speech. A night in jail would have been an unnerving experience, but Peter maintained his faith and allowed the Holy Spirit to speak through him. It is interesting to note that in verse 13 Peter and John are seen by the rulers as courageous and unschooled men. Peter and John were ordinary men who did extraordinary things through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is working in us today. How does this change our attitude towards having spiritual conversations?

What amazing things can God use us to do?

Look at the response of the believers in verse 29. Note that they prayed for great boldness to speak God’s word. Pray for boldness in sharing the message of Christ.

Other things to pray about:

Pray for Brian and members of the Servant Team as they continue to make preparations for the outreach week.

Pray for continued safety as many people are traveling for spring break.

Pray for Ana and Claire as they are taking part in CUP.

Pray for the seniors that are preparing to graduate. Pray that they would have wisdom as they make decisions about jobs and their lives after college.

Pray for Japan as they work to recover from the earthquake and tsunami.

Pray for relief workers and missionaries in Japan, that they would have opportunities to share God’s love in the midst of the crisis.
